COLCHESTER — The question of whether to install a stop sign on Jason Drive was debated at the April 8 Colchester Selectboard meeting. The selectboard held a public hearing about the matter on Tuesday, April 8 and decided not to put in a stop sign after hearing testimony from two members of the public who live in the neighborhood — one in favor and one against — and Norm Baldwin, director of Public Works.

COLCHESTER — A West Fairlee resident was detained in Colchester on Monday by agents from the Department of Homeland Security. Mohsen Mahdawi, 34, is a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. and has been a green card-holder for 10 years. He was handcuffed by masked federal agents Monday morning when he arrived for a scheduled citizenship interview at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services field office on Mountain View Drive in Colchester.

COLCHESTER — Colchester Middle School’s health education teacher Kim Wilson was honored for her work after only one year at the school. Wilson was recently recognized by the Society of Health and Educators of Vermont (SHAPE), a state-level group that advocates for quality health and physical education for all Vermonters. She was awarded Vermont’s Middle School Health Education Teacher of the Year after being nominated by a former coworker.
