    The NCAA released a 36-page House Settlement Q&A last week. I dug through the document to pull out what’s pertinent to college hockey, and one of the specifics was eye-opening. According to the document, players who leave for the CHL mid-season (after rosters have been submitted) cannot be replaced on the roster until the end of the season. That’s especially relevant this season.

    Maryville University (Mo.) will expand its facilities at the Maryville University Hockey Center. The facility, which is in partnership with the Chesterfield Hockey Association, is being upgraded in hopes of the university adding Division I hockey in the next 2-3 years.     Senior U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken approved the historic House v. NCAA settlement Friday night, ushering in a new era of college athletics. For the first time, schools will be allowed to directly pay student-athletes revenue sharing and deals that will include a player’s name, image, and likeness (NIL).     Penn State associate head coach Keith Fisher will be named the new head coach at Lindenwood University, sources confirmed to College Hockey Insider on Saturday. Fisher takes over for Bill Muckalt, who left for the head coaching job at Michigan Tech a little more than two weeks ago. Fisher is fresh off a run to the Frozen Four with the Nittany Lions. Fisher’s relationship with Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky goes back to 2005, when Fisher joined Gadowsky’s staff at Princeton.

    NCAA programs have always had to deal with some players with junior hockey eligibility remaining leaving at the semester break because they were unhappy with their roles. But that could become a bigger story this upcoming season with an influx of former CHL players. January 10 could become a significant day on the college hockey calendar.
