    The Avalanche locked up two of their restricted free agents on Friday, signing Matt Stienburg and Jason Polin each to one-year deals for the 2025-26 season. Stienburg, 24, played eight games for the Avs this past season, all in October when the team was dealing with several injuries. He didn’t record a point and played just 6:05 per game before a suspension led to him getting sent back down to the AHL for the remainder of the regular season.

The Winnipeg Jets are signing the 37-year-old three-time Stanley Cup champion to a one-year contract. The deal was agreed to, but can’t be signed until July 1. Toews has not played in either of the last two seasons after suffering from long Covid.
