Justin Duvall hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to lift Bridgeport to a 4-3 victory against Cabell Midland in the McDonald’s Baseball Classic Saturday. The Indians went 3-1 in the two-day event and improved to 12-6 overall. On Friday, BHS defeated Wheeling Park, 7-2 and lost to Jefferson, 9-6. Prior to the victory against Cabell Midland, the Indians defeated Frankfort, 5-2.

Bridgeport High School baseball standout Steven Lee finalized his plans to continue his career at the next level on Wednesday, signing his Letter of Intent with Salem University. The signing ceremony took place at BHS in front of a crowd of family, friends, teammates and coaches. “Their coaching staff is amazing,” Lee said. “The campus is small. A handful of individuals addressed Bridgeport City Council at Monday’s meeting, but the majority of the comments focused on the arts and none of them involved recent issues that have caused turmoil in the city. Instead, two of the four individuals speaking during the public forum addressed their support for an ordinance that would provide resolution on an issue that came up in May of 2024 and drew the ire of several, including those in the arts and culture community.
