Kate Blackwood has experienced that plenty of times but tonight the Bridgeport High School student will experience a completely different type of nervousness. For one night only, the BHS Thespians Troupe will present The Old Town Torpedoes which is a comedy one act play. Showtime is 7 p.m. at the BHS Theater.

When her sophomore year at Bridgeport High School is complete, Ianna Gail Carillo has an exciting summer trip planned. She will be travelling to the Philippines with her parents, who are both from there. She herself was born there but her family moved to the United States when she was six months old. “I’m excited to visit my family there and getting to travel and get involved in the culture because I haven’t really been exposed to that culture,” she said.

In a showdown between Class AAA baseball heavyweights, No. 3 Bridgeport defeated No. 2 Fairmont Senior, 8-2, on Tuesday. With the win, the Indians improve to 16-6. The Polar Bears fall to 14-3. Senior took an early lead thanks to a first-inning sacrifice fly from Matt Masters. Bridgeport took the lead in the bottom of the third. Jacob Stavrakis led off the inning with a double and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
