A new video shows Hinkley Point C’s progress as teams at the new nuclear power station get ready to lift the domed roof onto the second reactor building this summer. The footage shows that construction of Unit 1’s buildings is almost complete, as the installation of equipment advances inside. Meanwhile, the second unit, which was stopped during the pandemic, is catching up with its 245-tonne dome due to be lifted over the summer. This will allow it to move into its fit-out phase.

A trial of solar and green hydrogen energy at a Somerset project has saved Kier around 20,000 litres of diesel in four months, the contractor said. The Bridgwater Tidal Barrier scheme used a total of 16,047 kWh from the start of January to the end of April this year. 6,588 kWh came from solar power, 9,171 kWh from green hydrogen and 287 kWh from back-up batteries.

Employment Judge Andrew Midgley ruled that the claimant, identified only as Ms S Murphy in the judgment, was constructively unfairly dismissed and discriminated against because of her sex under section 26 of the Equality Act 2010.
