Corbin Times-Tribune
The Times-Tribune is a daily morning newspaper published six days a week (Monday to Saturday) in Corbin, Kentucky. It serves the communities of Knox, Laurel, and Whitley counties and is owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. This publication was originally established on June 17, 1882, as the Corbin Enterprise and later changed its name to Corbin Daily Tribune and Sunday Times when it transitioned to daily circulation. For a century, the newspaper was owned by various local figures, including Dan T. Chestnut, T.L. Metcalfe, the Price family, Fred Novels, and John L. Crawford. In 1982, it was sold to the Thomson Corporation by James Crawford and J. Springer Robinson, who had managed it since 1930. In 1994, American Publishing (which became Hollinger International) acquired it from Thomson, and in 1999, it was sold to its current owner, CNHI. The editorial team includes Editor Becky Killian, Sports Editor Les Dixon, Community Editor Bobbie Poynter, Nighttime Editor Brad Hall, reporters Jeff Noble and John Ross, and Sports Reporter Chris Parsons.

Montana is the ninth U.S. state to have an active measles outbreak. The U.S. was up to 800 cases of measles nationwide on Friday. Texas is driving the high numbers, with an outbreak centered in West Texas that started nearly three months ago and is up to 597 cases. Two unvaccinated elementary school-aged children died from measles-related illnesses near the epicenter in Texas, and an adult in New Mexico who was not vaccinated died of a measles-related illness.

WILLIAMSBURG — The bulk of Monday’s regular meeting of Williamsburg City Council was devoted to a presentation from Green Dot representatives regarding their survey of the community. It was the first such survey since the city joined the Green Dot initiative through Cumberland River Behavioral Health in 2019. Top concerns for responders included abuse of various types as well as poverty.
