Drawing Links

Drawing Links features primarily nonfiction comics that depict my life experiences, along with links to interesting discoveries I come across on the internet. I usually create my illustrations using pen, then scan the pages into my computer and share them as a single long JPG image.

Here are a number of “cutting floor” comics that I wanted to publish all at once. (The song “Shorty’s Ark,” by Will Oldham [a.k.a. Bonnie “Prince” Billy] and Matt Sweeney — lyric video here — appeared on their 2021 album Superwolves. In 2023, Oldham and the artist Lori Damiano adapted the song into a kids’ book, also called “Shorty’s Ark.” We love them both. )

It's such a delight to live vicariously through this version of family life. There are no small children in my immediate orbit so every share is parasocial fun.

Longtime readers might remember when I bought that tail, back in 2022. Also, Tom and my mom gave me a fancy printer for Christmas (!), so I can now make my own prints at home (!!).

Some background: The sea witch character is from another newsletter I started, Lake Mermaid, which I never sent out, but published directly like a blog, and now it’s just sitting there, but I like it! Also I recently started a new Instagram account, for paintings, and I’m using the sea witch as my profile pic, if you want to check it out. It didn’t sell at the art show, but it’s now on the wall of my office.
