I shot this a while ago, and then kind of sat on it, because yellow is SO EVERYWHERE! To the extent that I believe there can be an it color, right now, yellow is it. It is the color of summer - maybe not every summer, but probably this summer.

I realized I’d become a real Los Angelina earlier this year when it dawned on me how much I enjoy talking on the phone now. I used to hate it - it felt like a burden to get on the phone - but now that I live in LA, I spend so much time in my car, I’ve fallen in love with my phone calls. I call my mom, I call my dad, I call my husband, I call my friends. I’ve fallen in love with my phone calls and I’ve fallen in love with my friends.

My Fancy Mom is back with another relatively easy recipe. She is an amazing cook, and she’s made this for me many times and it’s great. Also something fresh and light and - I think? - pretty painless to make? It looks impressive too. I sent this to everyone, but pretty soon all Fancy Mom content (stories by my Fancy Mom or by me for Ladies of a Certain Age) will only go to your inbox if you toggle ON notifications for Fancy Mom stories here, under notifications.

Oooooh baby, this week! What a week. Things were quiet here at Earl Earl because IRL I had a lot going on. Next week, I also have something fun going on! I’m going to be at Madewell on Abbot Kinney on June 5 from 5-7 pm for “An Evening of Style” - PLEASE COME! If you live in LA! Here’s the link to RSVP and/or book a styling session with me. Ok, so things were quiet, but not silent, here’s what we had on:Yesterday I looked at how to dress for summer when you really prefer fall and winter clothes.

While I love the freedom and the lollygagging of summer, if I’m being honest, I don’t love getting dressed during this season. I’ve been burned…literally and figuratively… by overcomplicated looks growing up in Austin, trying to express my inner punk (knee-high combat boots, thrifted plaid men’s golfer pants, a pleather trench…) in 102 degree heat as an eighth grader.
