The other day I was texting my best friend…while I was in a steamy hot shower…while I was listening to Misery on tape…while I was drinking an icy cold Diet Coke. It felt…like the maximum amount of pleasure I could experience in a twenty minute window. Pleasuremaxxing, I texted her. Which as a name, I think is rooted in some TikTok microtrends or something that I’m too old to fully understand, but pleasuremaxxing as a concept - a wholly nonsexual one, I have a pretty firm grasp on.

Greetings from spring break. One of many, many breaks it seems my children get regularly from school (including also random half days!). At the end of last school week I lamented this time off school. Unstructured time! The obligation to presently parent! My god! I have to work! I have important silly work!And then…we went to Florida, to see my in-laws and…my god! The generosity of grandparents. The endless, endless patience.

A while back I wrote this post about not getting any more botox, except in my neck. In it, I admitted that eventually I’d probably go back on that and do it again, and so on, and my, my, my how quickly I am eating my own words. I nibbled them here, and now I’m fully, well…gobbling them. Chowing the fuck down. My perspective on aging has remained the same - I don’t want to not age, I just don’t want to look older than my age. I want to protect and preserve what I have, because I love what I have.

As much as I love shopping and clothes and getting dressed, I’ve never been as much of a bag girl as, say, a shoe or jacket gal. Or pants. Sure I have a collection, but I usually stick with one for a few months, then swap out - it’s never been an area where I’ve invested that much of my budget. And bags do require budget - I’d say of any category other than jewelry, this is where you can go the craziest. However! You don’t have to. Here are a few of my favorites that aren’t at high designer prices.

Ok, so I’m thinking about combining Your Mom (my motherhood newsletter) and Earl Earl, so here’s a little test run - what to wear to the playground. Springtime baby! Back out at the playground…in the sunshine…and mud…and wind…and occasional rain showers. Here are some things you can wear to feel fun and cute while you’re chasing your kids up and down that stupid wooden castle thing with tiny slippery ladders. A: Ooooo cute, this is great if it’s still cold-ish where you live.
