    The El Campo Ladybird soccer team had their best season in school history and it showed in District 22’s end-of-the-year awards. The Ladybirds were awarded two of the district’s highest honors senior Madison Gaona received the Most Valuable Player and junior Henrietta Kovacikova was named the Defensive MVP. Gaona was awarded the Offensive MVP, a season ago, but her growth was seen by fellow district coaches, allowing her to finish her career with the district’s highest honor.

    A 15-year-old El Campo boy faces multiple felony charges after allegedly attacking an elderly man with a club and then struggling with the police officers who attempted to arrest him last week. The child, who is not identified because of his age, will be prosecuted by juvenile authorities. A disturbance broke out on West Norris across the street from El Campo High School shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, May 18.

    The El Campo Ladybirds season ended at the hands of the Fredricksburg Battlin’ Billies in a 5-3 loss, in game two at Thrall High School on Friday night. The Ladybirds ended up being swept by the Battlin’ Billies, but in both games, El Campo held the lead forcing Fredricksburg to come from behind. “The girls fought hard and continued to play, however, we just didn’t execute offensively or defensively when we had chances,” Ladybird coach Anna Burton said.
