    A judge has sentenced one of several people charged in a Michigan price-fixing schemes to prison. Timothy Baugher, a former president of Pontiac, Mi.-based Asphalt Specialists (ASI), pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate federal antitrust law by colluding with F. Allied Construction Co. on driveway, large parking lot and private roadway projects. A judge sentenced him to six months in prison and ordered him to pay a fine of $20,000.

    Colorado utility Platte River Power Authority has signed an agreement with NextEra Energy Resources to develop a large-scale battery energy storage system, part of a renewable power strategy that includes phasing out its coal-fired power plants. The utility announced it will build a 100-MW/400-MW-per-hour lithium iron phosphate battery storage system adjacent to its Black Hollow solar project in Severance, Colo., about 60 miles north of Denver.

    The U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration is shaking up plans for a $7-billion reconstruction of New York City’s Pennsylvania Station by moving authority over the project from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to Amtrak. As part of the move, the agency known as FRA is canceling an Intercity Passenger Rail Program for the Northeast Corridor grant it had previously awarded to MTA.
