    The number of construction jobs increased in 27 states in May, on a monthly basis, according to employment data released by the Bureau of Labor statistics. Year-over-year, employment increased in 33 states and Washington, D.C.“Construction has been in a holding pattern for several months, with gains in a small majority of states,” Ken Simonson, chief economist at the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), said in a statement.

At 90 years old, the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne Bridge—the only road crossings over the Cape Cod Canal—are both considered functionally obsolete by MassDOT. Most the plan’s fund for replacing the two bridges would go toward the phase one construction of the new Sagamore Bridge.

    U.S. liquefied natural gas producer NextDecade has announced final engineer, procure and construct contracts awarded to Bechtel Energy, totaling about $9 billion, for Trains 4 and 5 at its Rio Grande LNG export facility in Brownsville, Texas.   The fixed-price contracts remain valid through Sept. 15, said NextDecade, which also said it expects up to $2 billion in added expenses per train during construction.
