    After putting out an RFP (request for proposals) for the management of the California Center for the Arts, last year and getting only one proposal—from the CCAE Foundation, the city has postponed a decision by extending the existing contract for two years. The city owns the CCAE campus property at 340 North Escondido Boulevard . The CCAEF operates the CCAE under the terms of the existing twelve-month Operation and Management Agreement which was due to expire June 30, 2025.

    Brian Caldwell didn’t pick up a guitar until he was 30. Now he is part of a band, Highland Way, that plays the rich sounds of Celtic music all over the country—with occasional tours of the source, Scotland. The California Center for the Arts, Escondido will host Highland Way on March 14 at 7 p.m. in the Center Theater. Caldwell grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, “It used to be called the ‘Second City of the Empire,’” he recalls.
