Global Voices
We are a global community of over 1,400 volunteers, including writers, analysts, media specialists, and translators, working together without borders. Since 2005, Global Voices has been at the forefront of citizen media reporting. We gather, confirm, and translate the trending news and stories that may be overlooked online, sourcing content from blogs, independent media, and social networks across 167 countries. Many fascinating and significant stories are not found in just one location; they are often spread out across the web in various formats, such as blog entries and tweets, and in different languages. At Global Voices, we ensure these stories are accurately reported and translated into more than 35 languages.

Throughout French-speaking Africa, street children are an all-too-common phenomenon. Although different names are used to describe these children, they all refer to the same precarious reality. In 2021, the International Catholic Child Bureau (BICE) reported there were over 120 million street children worldwide, including 30 million in Africa. In 2025, this figure is estimated to reach 35 million in Africa.
