Guideposts

Guideposts

Guideposts is a non-profit organization rooted in faith, established in 1945 by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Raymond Thornburg, and Ruth Stafford Peale, Dr. Peale's wife. The first edition of Guideposts magazine was a four-page pamphlet aimed at inspiring and uplifting people, especially veterans returning from war, and it reached 10,000 households. This initial issue featured a story by Eddie Rickenbacker, a renowned World War I pilot. In 1947, a fire wiped out the magazine's circulation records, but thanks to the support of radio host Lowell Thomas and coverage in Reader's Digest, the publication was able to survive. Over the years, Guideposts has expanded significantly and is now one of the 30 largest magazines in the United States, boasting a circulation of 2 million copies. The Guideposts Organization, which also runs a ministry outreach program, is based in Danbury, Connecticut, with additional offices located in New York City and Nashville, Tennessee.
