Toronto police and fire crews are investigating a two-alarm fire at an apartment building that shut down a stretch of Davenport Road early Sunday morning. In a post shared to social media, officials say crews were called to the scene shortly before 6 a.m.Officials are warning drivers to “consider alternate routes of travel” as Davenport Road between Avenue and Bedford remains closed. The TTC is advising riders that the 19 Bay bus route will also be diverted.

One of Toronto’s most ticket-heavy speed cameras was once again chopped down this week, marking the fourth act of vandalism targeting the same device in just five months, advocates say. Advocacy group Safe Parkside says the Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) camera near Parkside Drive and Algonquin Avenue was initially installed after a deadly five-car crash killed an elderly couple in 2021.

A man in his 60s is dead after a trench reportedly collapsed on a rural property in Milton Friday afternoon, officials say. Emergency crews say they were called to the property shortly after 4 p.m. for reports that the resident of the home allegedly went missing. Upon arrival and search of the property, officials say they discovered a man trapped under four-feet of soil. HRP Emergency crews search a trench four-feet-deep for a man in his 60s they believe became trapped inside.

Toronto police are investigating a collision in Danforth that they say left a cyclist seriously injured Saturday morning. In an email to CTV News Toronto, officials say crews were called to the area of Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road shortly after 12 a.m. On scene, paramedics say they transported one person to a trauma centre with serious but stable injuries.

A 21-year-old Mohawk College student, described as an “innocent bystander,” has died following a shooting in Hamilton on Thursday, police say. Police say the shooting happened at around 7:30 p.m., in the area of Upper James Street and South Bend Road East. “What we’ve learned is that there was a confrontation between two vehicles at the site, one being a black Mercedes SUV, the other vehicle a white sedan,” Acting Det.-Sgt. Daryl Reid told reporters in an update on Friday afternoon.

Police are pleading for the public’s help after a 29-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into the back of a tractor-trailer on Highway 401. A woman who police describe as an has died following a shooting in Hamilton late Thursday evening, police say. In a post shared on X, Hamilton police say the shooting happened earlier on Thursday night in the area of Upper James Street and Mohawk Road. Police say the woman, who they believe was an “innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet” was brought to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Toronto police are investigating after four suspects allegedly carjacked a driver at gunpoint late Thursday afternoon. In an email to CTV News Toronto, officials say the incident happened around 5:19 p.m. in the area of Kipling Avenue and North Queen Street. That’s when police say three men and a woman allegedly stole a grey 2023 Toyota RAV4 before fleeing the area. There is no word on any injuries to the victim.
