Gary has always had an interest in preserving and sharing Hope’s rich history and has helped with many Hope history displays across the city. He served as the past director for several years of the Hope Visitor Center and Depot Museum. Come hear from Gary Johnson as he shows his lifetime collection of Hope history objects and old photos.

HOPE – Did you know that this year Hope, Arkansas has been in existence for 150 years? In 1975, the City of Hope also celebrated 100 years and made a time capsule to be opened this year. The time capsule was opened by the City of Hope at the birthday celebration a week ago at Hope City Hall. Come see what items were put in the time capsule as gifts to the current residents of Hope.

(WASHINGTON, Ark.) – Experience the 19th century children’s novel “Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland”at Historic Washington State Park on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 1 p.m. — 3 p.m. This fun (and slightly wacky) tea party is inspired by the 1865 book, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Children can attend the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, play croquet with the Queen of Hearts, run in a caucus race and more. Don’t be late like the White Rabbit.

The “Great Hour of Sharing” service was held March 30th at the Washington Global Methodist Church. April 6th the service will be held at 6pm at Sweet Home Baptist Church and the April 13th service will be held at the Hope Methodist Church on highway 29 south. The public is welcome.
