Thankfully, the Atlanta Braves avoided too much damage when it came to injuries this spring. While Sean Murphy injuring his rib wasn't ideal, the Braves had a strong replacement option available to them in Drake Baldwin. Jurickson Profar gave everyone a scare, but he avoided a significant wrist injury and the rest of the active roster appears to be in good health. However, that doesn't mean that Atlanta doesn't have some notable names on the shelf.

The Atlanta Braves' shortstop situation has taken a turn for the worse in 2024. After shocking basically everyone in 2023 spring training by winning the starting job outright, Arcia was one of the team's biggest success stories last year with a .264/.321/.420 line with 17 homers while playing excellent defense at short. Even at the start of this season, Arcia had the Braves looking smart from moving on from Dansby Swanson.

After spending the first two months of the season on the IL, Sean Murphy has not been his usual self at the plate. He is slashing .222/.293./.389 with an OPS of .682 so far in 2024, which is far from his usual numbers and production. More than ever, the struggling Braves could use a bat like Murphy's, but the big issue stems from an uncharacteristic problem this year: his inability to hit the fastball. When Jorge Soler launched a ball at 109 mph off the bat against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, it was a familiar and nostalgic sight for Braves fans. Going back to the 2021 season, Soler's prodigious power was a critical component in the Braves winning the World Series title that year with his blast in Game Six still giving chills to Braves fans (including this one) to this day. Without Soler, the Braves probably don't take down the trophy.
