If you loved “Squid Game,” you know Seong Gi-hun’s journey couldn’t end with just one season. For one, the show is just too popular. Netflix couldn’t resist continuing it, whether it needed it or not. There’s also no way Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) could be content with sitting on his big pile of money, knowing that the deadly games he was a part of last season are still going on. In fact, that’s the driving force behind Season 2. Despite being the sole survivor and victor of the games, he has no peace.

With “Nosferatu” and “Wolf Man” playing in theaters last month, it was truly Halloween in January. I’ve already reviewed the former; today we’ll focus director Leigh Whannell’s take on the latter. “Wolf Man” is, at its core, a tragedy. We open in 1995, where hunter Grady Lovell (Sam Jaeger) is out on a hunting trip in remote Oregon with his son, Blake (Zac Chandler), when they encounter a werewolf. Grady has been aware of this creature for some time, and it’s made him paranoid.

What’s left of the Suicide Squad? Monsters, of course. That’s the premise of James Gunn’s “Creature Commandos.” After the events of “The Suicide Squad,” that film’s elite unit made up of prisoners has been banned by the powers that be. Well, sort of. Its leader, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), can’t recruit humans anymore. But monsters and metahumans are another matter.

Detective Ellie Reeves is back in action in the most eerie and chilling case she has ever encountered. When a little girl, Betsy, goes missing from one of the holiday cabins along the Widow Lake, the entire police department is mobilized to find the little girl before it is too late. Betsy is found later in the night, but the search for her leads the police to a car in the bottom of the lake from which the remains of a body are recovered.
