NORTH ADAMS — Sixty years ago, North Adams State College’s Student Voice fell silent. In 1965, the college (now the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts) and The Voice (a predecessor to The Beacon student newspaper) were roiled in controversy over a “censorship row” that led to the firing of the paper’s editor and, ultimately, the end of the Student Voice. The college says The Beacon newspaper and Beacon Web News will not fold.

PITTSFIELD — Pittsfield Police asked for the public's help locating a missing teenager on Friday night. Alaina St. Pierre, 14, may be in Pittsfield or North Adams, police said. She's a 5 foot, 6 inches white female and is 90 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call Pittsfield Police at 413-448-9700. POWNAL, Vt. — Two female victims were airlifted to Albany Medical Center after a UTV crash near Furlong Road in Pownal Saturday night.
