International Fund for Animal Welfare
The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) stands as one of the foremost charities dedicated to animal welfare and conservation globally. Its mission encompasses rescuing individual animals, protecting species, conserving their habitats, and promoting stronger legal protections. Founded by Brian Davies, IFAW played a crucial role in the abolition of the commercial seal hunt in Canada. In 1983, Europe prohibited the sale of products made from whitecoat harp seals, which ultimately contributed to the preservation of over 1 million seals. Today, IFAW is active in more than 40 countries worldwide.
