Launched on September 5, 2007, it has expanded its reach, content, and readership over the years. The primary goal of The Island Free Press is to report on the individuals, topics, and events that continuously influence the communities of Hatteras and Ocracoke.

    Three furry ambassadors from the Outer Banks SPCA took a day trip to Frisco on Friday, May 30, to meet and greet with Hatteras Island residents and visitors at the “Pups at Frisco Bay Coastal Grill” fundraising event. In a first for Hatteras Island, local business Frisco Bay Coastal Grill teamed up with the Outer Banks SPCA to host a fundraiser for Dare County’s local animal shelter.
