Not long after announcing that the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum would be closing indefinitely, another announcement revealed another somewhat historical building would be closing. Shirley Hall was established and opened on the WTAMU campus in 1964. This dorm has been housing students for 61 years.

At one point in history, Amarillo, Texas has 6 of these popular fast-food restaurants serving each area of the city. Long John Silver's AmarilloYes! Amarillo had six locations, Pierce, Paramount, South Bell, South Western, Ross, and Westgate Mall. This fast food haven was a great place to get fish, shrimp and those heavenly chicken planks. Former Hutchinson County Sheriff Blaik Kemp Arrested

A former Texas Panhandle Sheriff has been arrested. According to the Eagle Press, Kemp was arrested and booked into the Moore County Jail after Potter County put a warrant out on the former sheriff. The former sheriff is being charged with felony stalking. This particular charge is a third-degree felony and if found guilty, Kemp faces 2-10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Back in July 2023, Blaik Kemp announced that he would not be seeking re-election for Sheriff of Hutchinson County.

If you look back to 2024 we had a lot of closed restaurants in Amarillo. That is something we don't like to see. We don't like to see owners out of a dream and employees out of a job. It's tough, it really is. Sometimes we are able to have a bounce back like when both Malcolm's and Beef O' Brady's. They were able to open back up after closing but that is not normal. Usually, we lose a good place and then all we have are memories and people posting about missing them on social media.
