Kentucky New Era
The newspaper was established in 1869 by John D. Morris and Asher Graham Caruth under the name Weekly Kentucky New Era. In 1881, attorney Hunter Wood took full ownership of the publication. It transitioned to daily circulation in 1888, while still producing a weekly edition until World War II. Since 1920, this paper has been the sole newspaper operating in Hopkinsville. In 1997, Taylor Wood Hayes, the great-great-grandson of Hunter Wood, assumed the roles of CEO and publisher of the newspaper.
