KGO (810 AM) is a commercial radio station based in San Francisco, California. Since October 2022, it has adopted a sports talk format that focuses heavily on sports betting. The Eagles are fresh off another thrilling win vs. a good team, but it’s not enough to make them favorites for a rematch of the NFC Championship Game this upcoming Sunday. Most books have San Francisco as -2.5 pointfavorites vs. the Eagles in Philly, a fairly notable line considering the Eagles have the best record (10-1) in the NFL. They are also coming off wins vs. the Cowboys, Chiefs and Bills. That said, the argument for the 49ers being favored is fairly straightforward.

The Trey Lance era is over in San Francisco. Relegated to just four starts in two seasons due to injury, Lance has been traded to the Dallas Cowboys according to Adam Schefter, a few days after it was announced that he was beat out for the No. 2 quarterback job by Sam Darnold. According to Schefter, the 49ers are getting a fourth-round pick in return. Compensation update: Cowboys are sending a fourth-round pick to the 49ers for Trey Lance, per league source.

Things have been rough for the Giants of late, and Gabe Kapler’s frustration seemed to bubble over in the postgame scrum with reporters on Wednesday. Kapler had a testy back-and-forth with KNBR’s Giants beat reporter Danny Emerman, over a question about the inconsistency of pinch hitting for recent call-up Wade Meckler. Two days earlier, Kapler had decided not to pinch hit for Meckler, at the time playing in his first MLB game, in a high-leverage, bases loaded situation.

Joey Bart has become a forgotten man since the emergence of Patrick Bailey, but Farhan Zaidi still believes he’s an important part of the Giants’ immediate future. San Francisco’s president of baseball operations said as much during an interview with Tolbert & Copes on Thursday, explaining that the former No. 2 overall pick will be an important depth piece should the Giants make the playoffs.

The notion of landing Shohei Ohtani at the trade deadline is enough to make Giants fans salivate, but it’s probably not the most likely scenario. Ohtani would cost a bunch of prospects and is going to have a ton of suitors. Not to mention, he’s a two-month rental, and the typically risk-averse Giants haven’t been the type of team under Farhan Zaidi likely to execute such a move. That said, there will be many other players to be had if San Francisco is looking to improve.
