LINCOLN — The NSAA state tennis championships get underway on Thursday at Lincoln’s Woods Tennis Center with the Class B tournament on Thursday and Friday, May 22 and 23. With the Memorial Day weekend off, the Class A meet will also be at Woods on Tuesday, May 27 and 28. Matches begin at 9:00 AM each day, with championship matches at 1:00 on Friday and Wednesday. All first round matches are played in an 8-game pro set.

NEBRASKA — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has lifted its temporary ban on campfires at central and western state park and wildlife management areas. Campfires already were permitted at locations in eastern Nebraska. Some Nebraska parks and counties may have local, individual burn bans in place. LINCOLN — Husker fans will soon be able to enjoy a cold beer while watching University of Nebraska sporting events. The City Council unanimously voted Monday to approve Aramark’s application for liquor licenses at Memorial Stadium, Devaney Sports Center and Hibner Stadium. The University of Nebraska selected Aramark to be the concession provider in January and signed a 10-year contract with Aramark. They will handle all food and drink options for all three venues.
