Jennifer Nobiling is the newest member of the Jewell City Council. She was one of three people interviewed for the council seat this week during the council meeting. Nobiling, Jeff Engelby and Crystal Tice were interviewed by the council last Monday evening. Nobiling frequently attends the city council meetings and would be most up to speed with current topics.She will take over for Loyal Winborn who resigned from the council this spring. Nobiling was administered the oath of office.

Marilyn Daniels, 83, of Webster City formerly of Duncombe passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, north of Duncombe. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.

WEBSTER CITY, IA │ Van Diest Family Health Clinic (VDFHC) in Fort Dodge will open Monday, June 30 in its new location, 2419 2nd Avenue North. The clinic will close in its current location, 119 Avenue O West, on Thursday, June 26 at 1 p.m. to prepare for the move. The clinic will also be closed on Friday, June 27. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported today Hamilton County saw an increase in unemployment for May. The figures showed the rate was 3.6 for month. In April, Hamilton County’s unemployment rate was 2.7 percent and in May,2024 the rate was at 2.1 percent. This translates to 7,660 people in Hamilton County who were employed across the county while there were 240 people unemployed last month.

James Bruce Nelson, 78, passed away at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa on June 20th, 2025. Funeral services will be held at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, Iowa on June 26th at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Washington Township Cemetery near Duncombe, Iowa.
