    A local church, Central Faith Baptist Church, had its roof destroyed due to storm damage on Tuesday night. The church is located at 2470 Jomar. The church’s pastor of 21 years, Gerald Clark, says the church’s fellowship area’s roof portion had ripped off, causing rain to leak in and causing the ceilings to cave in. Unfortunately, due to the storms about 7 years ago, the church’s insurance provider dropped providing insurance to churches and the church hasn’t been able to find coverage since.

    The Women’s College World Series national championship series is headed for a winner-take-all Game 3 tonight. Texas Tech held on to a 4-3 victory over Texas in Oklahoma City to even the series at 1-1 to force the seventh Game 3 in WCWS history. Texas Tech scored two runs in the sixth inning and led 4-1 going into the seventh inning but Texas answered with two runs and had the tying run on at third base before the final out.

    The Wall Hawks dominated the state championship from the first pitch and Wall took home their second state championship in baseball following a 14-2 rout of Thrall in 5 innings. Wall led 4-0 after the first inning and blew the game open with a seven-run fourth inning. Wall 2B Jacob Braded knocked in four runs and Oklahoma commit, Gunner Dillard, had three hits and three RBI. Wall’s ace pitcher Gage Reichenau won his 14th game of the season to finish 14-0 on the mound.

Wall is playing in the state title game for the fourth time in the past eight years while this is Thrall’s second-ever appearance in the state title game. The Tigers won a state title in 1998. It will hot and muggy today in Round Rock with the heat index expected at 101 degrees. Thrall is just 25 miles from Dell Diamond.
