The Lamar Ledger is a community newspaper that comes out twice a week in Lamar, Colorado. It also features another publication known as The Tri-State Trader, which is a weekly release under the TMC brand. The Lamar Ledger is produced by Prairie Mountain Publishing, part of the MediaNews Group. Key staff members include General Manager Tracy Godinez, Editor Chris Frost, Sports Editor John Contreras, and Advertising team members Rick Stagner and Ed Bennett. Sara DeLaRosa handles circulation and reception duties.

The third of three inmates charged with the beating death of a fellow offender was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in the Department of Corrections, the highest penalty in the allowable sentencing range, to run consecutively to the terms he is currently serving. Charles Porter, 33, along with his co-defendants, Justin Sanders, 21, and Turell Lee, 35, were charged with second-degree murder in the death of Nicholas Hill on March 26, 2023, at Colorado State Penitentiary.

New felony charges have been filed against the man accused of the March 2022 murder of a Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility inmate, an escape from the Fremont County Detention Center in September, and other charges of assault on officers. On April 1, Anthony White, 39, allegedly caused “significant” damage to the toilet and wall in his cell and assaulted staff. In a separate case, White is facing a first-degree murder charge for the death of fellow inmate 41-year-old Cruz Carbajal at CTCF.
