YAZOO COUNTY, MI - On Friday, April 11th, the Yazoo County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) announced that a former Mississippi chief was arrested and charged with capital murder more than four years after his resignation as chief. According to the Clarion Ledger, deputies responded to a call around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9th, in reference to a man who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The department identified the man as Timothy Byrd, who was found dead at his home off of Dover Road.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Newark, New Jersey, have arrested a sushi restaurant owner who was allegedly a spy for China. According to the New York Post, 61-year-old Ming Xi Zhang, also know as "Sushi John," was arrested on March 24th. Zhang is the owner of Ya Ya Noodles in Montgomery Township. In April of 2024, Zhang was convicted of acting as an unregistered agent of the Chinese government and sentenced to three years' probation.

COLUMBIA, SC - On Friday, April 11th, a firing squad executed a South Carolina man who killed an off-duty police officer. According to NBC News, the inmate, Mikal Mahdi, gave no final statement and did not look to his right toward the nine witnesses in the room sitting behind bulletproof glass and bars. As he was shot, he cried out and his arms flexed. A white target with a red bull's eye over his heart was pushed into the wound in his chest. About 45 seconds later, he groaned two more times.
