The Leeuwarder Courant holds the title of the oldest daily newspaper in the Netherlands. Established by Abraham Ferwerda, it made its debut in 1752. This publication was the first newspaper in Friesland, the Dutch province, and its capital city, Leeuwarden. It is known as a "popular" newspaper rather than a "quality" one.
