HAMLIN — The Lincoln County Commission approved several items on their agenda, April 17 at their regular bi-monthly meeting. First on the agenda the Commission approved an additional $400,000 payment to accompany their payment this month for the Jail Bill Accrual. The bill was previously $1.8 million and had dropped to $1.1 million with previous payments. This payment will bring the total amount down to approximately $700,000-$800,000.

BRANCHLAND — Cheryl Hope Lucas, 45, of Branchland was arrested and charged on April 7, with grand larceny according to a criminal complaint filed by West Virginia State Tpr. J.M. Bryant. Tpr. As part of a new fitness initiative, Gov. Patrick Morrisey traveled to Little Beaver State Park, in Raleigh County, on April 16 to announce the creation of a network of mile-long hiking trail segments that will soon open at each of West Virginia’s 37 state parks. Little Beaver State Park’s 1.1-mile-long Lake Front Trail, which loops around the park’s centerpiece 18-acre lake, officially became the state’s first “Mountaineer Mile” trail during Wednesday’s ceremony.
