Liphook Herald

Liphook Herald

The FARNHAM HERALD newspaper series was founded by E.W. Langham, who opened a small printing shop on South Street in Farnham in 1892. Due to its growing popularity and rising sales, he expanded by launching the Haslemere Herald from a new office on West Street in 1896. Both publications thrived, leading Mr. Langham to merge them on September 11, 1897. He introduced the "tudor" masthead, which is still in use today. The slogan "the paper for small advertisements" became one of its defining features. Over time, more titles and areas, including Alton, were incorporated, resulting in increased advertising and a larger circulation.

However, the same cannot be said for its neighbour Aldershot, located just over the Hampshire border, which was recently labelled “Britain’s worst town to live in” by The Sunday Times.
