Curious Minds explores the letters exchanged between White and Thomas Pennant, who lived from 1726 to 1798 and is mentioned in White’s book The Natural History of Selborne. Pennant is one of two correspondents whose letters to White shape the book but he is not so well known now as he was when it was published in 1789.

Some of the most important representatives of Greece in the UK were in attendance when Farnham artist Stavros Kotsiréas held a private view to open his Silent Nature exhibition in the James Hockey and Foyer Galleries at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham on April 12. Among the guests were Yiannis Tsaousis, the ambassador of Greece to the UK, Mariana Varvarigou, the head of diplomacy at the Greek embassy, and Georgios Boutlas, an attaché at the Greek embassy.

Steam trains, bunting and a ukulele band were to the fore as VE Day 80 was celebrated at Alresford station on the Watercress Line. There were trains pulled by the Canadian Pacific steam locomotive running throughout the day, while a diesel shuttle service ferried passengers to and from the Alton mainline station. The Ukes of Wallington provided musical entertainment on their ukuleles, while people dressed to party like it's 1945 added to the historic feel of the occasion.

The 2025 Haslemere Festival began with an evening devoted to the plays and sonnets of William Shakespeare that have provided the inspiration for the music of a number of composers to represent the characters and drama of his works. In a wonderful mix of choral and orchestral works with inserted speeches from the plays, the evening was a rollercoaster of musical and dramatic delights. Extracts from the dramas were recited by Fiona Cullis and David Greenwood, members of the Haslemere Thespians.
