The US Open is taking a bold step by changing the mixed doubles format, and big names are stepp;ing up to help. Months ago, when the US Open announced that it was altering the mixed doubles format and timing for this year's tournament, tennis fans have been skeptical. Moving mixed doubles to the week before the tournament main draw and inviting teams who are not traditionally involved in mixed doubles were big shifts for a sport that does not always embrace change.

It was epic. The hours and days after a Grand Slam tennis tournament sometimes provide a letdown and feeling of sadness, but that is not the case with the 2025 French Open, as fans are still reveling in the excellent tennis they witnessed throughout the two weeks and especially during finals weekend.

Matchup of young greats. Here we are again, and likely amid many other final matchups. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the two best players on the ATP tour, as they have been for over a year, and just as they are likely to stay for the foreseeable future. Sabalenka's opponent, Coco Gauff, fought back to even the set, but both players struggled to hold serve. Another break late in the set by the Belarusian forced a tie-break, which Gauff appeared set to win.

Beating the GOAT. The miracle is that Novak Djokovic is still putting himself in positions to win Grand Slams. Reaching the 2025 French Open semifinals is an accomplishment. The 38-year-old could have retired two years ago and begun enjoying life. He is arguably the greatest player that ever played, having spent more weeks as ATP No. 1 than anyone else, more majors won (24), and more Masters 1000s titles (40). He remains a force on the tour.
