/ Field Reports/Setting limb lines to catch lunch in the Louisiana swamp VIDEO In the mood for a catfish shore lunch, Jeff Bruhl and I tied lines baited with live bream and cut shiners to cypress trees and let them soak while we targeted other fish with rods and reels. We ran the lines a couple of times, and caught PLENTY of what we were after.

Constricted to inside the pass by two long rows of rocks, water flowed from the estuary into the Gulf. At the end of the jetty, the water swirled around the last rocks in a mushrooming effect. More than shifting currents disrupted the water surface. About 20 yards off the rocks, jumping baitfish desperately tried to escape the snaggled-toothed predators attacking from below.
