The Lusa News Agency, known in Portuguese as Lusa – Agência de Notícias de Portugal, SA, is the leading news agency in Portugal. It was established on November 28, 1986, initially named Agência Lusa — Cooperativa de Interesse Público de Responsabilidade Limitada, or Lusa - CIPRL for short. This formation came after the closure of the previous news agency, ANOP Agência Noticiosa Portuguesa. Additionally, Lusa is a member of the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA), actively contributing to its network.
