Observador

The Observer is a digital newspaper from Portugal that launched its first edition on May 19, 2014. It stands out as the only publication in the country with a clear right-wing political stance. What makes The Observer special is its entirely digital format; it does not have a print version, except for special annual anniversary and lifestyle editions. The newspaper was created by a group of editors in Portugal, with António Carrapatoso serving as the chair of the board. Other board members include Duarte Schmidt Lino, José Manuel Fernandes, who also holds the role of publisher, and Rui Ramos. From the outset, The Observer aimed to cover key topics continuously, providing news every day of the week and around the clock. In its first month, the site attracted 630,000 visitors, and by August 2015, it had grown to about six million visits and 35 million page views. By August 2017, these numbers increased to 12 million visits and 46 million page views, with a dedicated team of 40 journalists. In its inaugural year, The Observer received the "Launch of the Year" award at the Media & Advertising awards and was honored as the newspaper of the year in 2018 by the same organization. The following year, it also won the Marktest "Press and Digital - Media" award. On June 27, 2019, The Observer expanded its reach by launching Rádio Observer on the former Rádio Baía frequency, 98.7FM, in the Lisbon area, supported by a team of around 30 people and plans for growth into Porto.
