Marblehead’s Ghillie Suydam and Swampscott’s Lori Watts captured the championship. Held Monday and Tuesday, the tournament featured 96 players, forming 48 teams. The field was divided into eight flights — Hasak, Salem, Kernwood, Essex, Myopia, Bass Rocks, Renaissance, and Tedesco — featuring six teams in each flight.

    WESTFIELD — Marblehead High’s track and field teams competed in last weekend’s MIAA Division 3 track and field championships held at Alumni Field on the campus of Westfield State University. The boys (10th; 28 points) finished in the top 10, while the girls placed 16th with 21 points. Walpole boys (75 points) and Billerica Memorial (92) girls were victorious.

Those were just a few factors to deal with for Marblehead’s Corinthian Yacht Club, which prevailed in this year’s Team Racing World Championship held in Newport, Rhode Island this past week. The club led the way from Day 1, finishing with 20 points and losing just five of 25 races through the two-on-two format.
