DANVERS — Danvers High welcomed the best of the best for the Northeastern Conference outdoor championships last Friday. Marblehead’s girls finished third with 104.5 points – behind first-place Peabody and Masconomet – while the boys (95 points) tied for third place with Beverly. Peabody captured first place there as well, with Masconomet close behind. BOYSJacob Szalewicz won the 800m with a time of 1:55.60, while Henrik Adams clocked in at fourth in 2:01.12.

Marblehead’s baseball team, serving as the home team but playing at Austin Prep due to field conditions last Friday, served up a 2-0 win against Bishop Fenwick. The victory punched the Magicians’ (10-10) ticket to the Division 2 state tournament. Stefan Shepard scored Aidan Downey in the first inning, while Will Quigley knocked in Shepard in the sixth. Carter Sahagian went the distance for Marblehead and stole the show, allowing just two hits and two walks to go with nine strikeouts.
