    Somehow, we’re already five months into the new year. And yet it still feels like March 2020 at the same time. With all of the chaos engulfing America at this moment, I hope celebrating the one-year anniversary of a new lit mag, and my poems they chose to publish, will bring some solace.     Well, it finally happened. I’m now officially hip. I had total hip replacement surgery on my right hip on March 31. The surgery lasted six hours. Apparently, while I was coming out of anesthesia, one of the nurses mentioned that I was heading to room 2, and my sister says I started singing “Kiss Off” by the Violent Femmes 😂. I take one, one, one ‘cause you left meAnd two, two, two for my family …It takes an entire support team to endure surgery.

    I had two poems published recently in Porkbelly Press’ Love Me, Love My Belly zine, issue 7. Porkbelly Press, an indie micro press (celebrating a decade of publishing, congratulations!), publishes the annual body image zine. Their site describes Love Me, Love My Belly as “dedicated to the acceptance of self and imperfection as beauty.
