    Imricor Medical Systems (ASX: IMR) recently announced that it has commenced its VISABL-VT clinical trial. A medical team at the Amsterdam University Medical Centre (AUMC) in the Netherlands completed the first-in-human ventricular ablation guided by real-time MRI with the company’s NorthStar Mapping System, Burnsville, Minnesota–based Imricor announced on April 16. According to Imricor, it was the first ventricular ablation and the first left-sided ablation performed with real-time MRI guidance.

    Artedrone says preclinical studies show its Sasha microbotic system can autonomously perform mechanical thrombectomy for stroke treatment. Paris-based Artedrone, a Truffle Capital medtech portfolio company, said on April 17 that it has submitted results for publication in a research journal. Only a small percentage of people suffering from a stroke have access to a competent thrombectomy stroke center, according to Artredrone, which says its Sasha system can help address the problem.

    Augmedics announced today that it has treated 10,000 patients with its Xvision augmented reality spine surgery system. “Since inception, Augmedics has been a company of firsts — the first FDA-cleared AR navigation system for surgery, the first augmented reality spine surgeries in U.S., the first AR clinical accuracy studies,” Augmedics CEO Paul Ziegler said in a news release.

    Novocure (Baar, Switzerland) announced today that it has won a CE mark for its Optune Lua wearable device for treating metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. The regulatory approval in the European Union comes approximately six months after Novocure secured FDA approval of the system, which uses tumor-treating fields (TTFields) to kill cancer cells.

    Alphatec Holdings (Nasdaq: ATEC) has commercially launched its Prone TransPsoas (PTP) corpectomy system, expanding the type of spine surgeries using PTP. The latest system launch, announced yesterday, includes deformity and corpectomy procedures for complex pathologies of the thoracolumbar spine. “PTP Corpectomy represents a significant step forward in Atec’s commitment to improving patient outcomes in the most complex spine surgeries,” CEO Pat Miles said in a news release.
