RABAT - Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka told parliament on Tuesday that seawater desalination has reached a drinking water production capacity of 320 billion cubic meters by 2025. In response to oral questions from lawmkers, Baraka reported a "qualitative leap" in investments in the equipment and water sectoras the budget had been increased from 43 billion dirhams in 2023 to 70 billion dirhams in 2025.

LONDON - Haitham El-Zobaidi, the Chief Executive Officer of Al Arab Publishing House, died Saturday aged 61 at a London hospital after a long battle with cancer. El-Zobaidi came from Iraq to London in 1988 to pursue his postgraduate studies at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London. In 1990, He obtained a Masters Degree in Control Systems at the Faculty of Engineering , then a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the same university in 1998.

RABAT - Director of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), Habboub Cherkaoui, warned Thursday that Morocco is facing an ongoing threat of terrorism that now involves family recruitment in addition to lone wolves who swear their allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Sahel region. The latest anti-terror operation saw four suspects arrested Sunday, including three brothers, in the Had Soualem region of the Berrechid Province.
