Grand County Public Library will be hosting a drumming group—Moab Taiko Dan—to perform at a special Musical Story Hour on Saturday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. You might wonder at a library inviting a group of drummers.

No joke: on April 1, 2025, Moab witnessed an unusual weather event as snowflakes and hail briefly fell upon the city, marking a rare April snowfall in Moab. The last recorded April snowfall occurred on April 3, 1999, when the city received 0.5 inches of snow. In addition to the April snowfall, residents are reminded that Moab Snow can impact road conditions and travel plans.

Beginning today, April 1, travelers will be able to fly daily between Moab and Denver for around $149 roundtrip. Contour Airlines, which has served Moab with flights to Phoenix since early 2024, is adding the connection as a new partnership with United Airlines. Contour will continue offering daily service between Canyonlands Regional Airport (CNY) in Moab and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) as well.

April 1, 1938 – March 31, 2025Mary Hanley Black was born the only child of Mary Isabell Johnson and John Edward Hanley on April 1, 1938, in Moab. She died at home in her sleep on March 31, 2025, just one day shy of her 87th birthday. Mary’s mother died about a month after her birth and she was raised by her grandparents, Milton and Ruth Johnson, in a big mixed family of 17 children. She was treated as a younger sibling.
