It’s important to remember that Monster Children isn’t a single narcissistic paranoid schizophrenic whispering to themselves in front of a laptop all day, but a group of anywhere from five to fifteen narcissistic paranoid schizophrenics depending on who is or isn’t in a k-hole. And because there are so many of us, all with different styles and tastes, there is a lot of conflict in email chains and text threads and bar booths. ‘Kelly Slater is a God!’ someone will yell.

Last month, I told a story about how I went and saw my friend’s band play in Manhattan, New York. I took some mushrooms and had some beers. It was good. I was among friends. I was happy. I pushed my way up to the front to be with people I love and dance to songs that I knew well. Arriving wedged at the front, I began to move and shake, and this infuriated the people around me.

I have loved love since I was a kid. Romance has been something of a dominating force since I first laid eyes on Michelle Pachecko from across the room, coloring the leaves a perfect green in the third grade. How much of your career do you think you owe to the Olympus Stylus? So, alright, people always say it’s not the camera it’s the photographer; I think that that is fucking bullshit, I think it is 100% the camera. I also want to shout out Evan Mock, because we’d go out and I noticed how close he would get to people to take their photos. You know how people are shy about it and stand twenty feet back? Evan gets in people’s faces. I always liked his photos, and so I tried to do that, too.
