The honorees for the evening were 2025 Leader of the Year Marcia Dixon, who serves as Barbourville Tourism Director, and two Luminary honorees, Chad Imel and Nancy Mitchell.     FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Fifteen-year-old Kentuckians can now visit the Kentucky State Police website (KSP) to search for times and locations to apply for a driver’s permit and take the written test; but due to high demand and location availability, appointments are limited. After signing House Bill 15 into law last week, Gov. Andy Beshear said the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet was working to reprogram the state’s licensing system and that online scheduling would begin April 2.

    A thriving Barbourville congregation seeks to make its table bigger to welcome more people inside its doors by constructing a new sanctuary and refurbishing its remaining facility. Over the past couple of weeks, crews have carefully removed elements of the older portions of East Barbourville Baptist Church. Heavy equipment took the structure to the ground on Friday, leaving only the existing sanctuary.

    A man who made an alleged threat against a local retail store continued to rack up charges even after he was incarcerated. On March 3, the Corbin Police Department responded to a call from the Dollar General Store on Master Street in Corbin. According to the arrest citation, the store manager reported that Jacob Jones entered the store and claimed to know where all the blind spots for cameras were.
