Barbourville ARH Hospital honored its nursing staff on Friday, May 9 for both National Nurses Week, and to name the nominees and winner of the 2025 DAISY Award. Nominees included Renee Carton, Tammy Burchett, Roy Dusina, Trinity Blevins, Amber Grubb, Natalie Brock, Linda Napier, Stephanie Sanders, and Rebecca Doolin. The nurse chosen to receive the 2025 DAISY Award was Tammy Burchett, who was presented with a sculpture, a bouquet of daisies, and an assortment of other gifts.

A 53-year-old woman is in critical condition after being shot by a Knox County sheriff’s deputy Tuesday night during a standoff at her home, according to Kentucky State Police. The incident began around 10:14 p.m. when deputies responded to Sugar Maple Drive at Green Road, Ky. for a report of a barricaded woman making suicidal threats.

The honorees for the evening were 2025 Leader of the Year Marcia Dixon, who serves as Barbourville Tourism Director, and two Luminary honorees, Chad Imel and Nancy Mitchell. BARBOURVILLE, Ky. — A thriving Barbourville congregation seeks to make its table bigger to welcome more people inside its doors by constructing a new sanctuary and refurbishing its remaining facility. Over the past couple of weeks, crews have carefully removed elements of the older portions of East Barbourville Baptist Church. Heavy equipment took the structure to the ground in late March, leaving only the existing sanctuary.

Raven Chanel Broughton-Jones The only remaining party in a duo charged with heinous child sex offenses was indicted by a Knox County Grand Jury on Friday, February 28, 2025. The 32-count indictment alleges the acts to have occurred over the course of just more than one year and involved three minors, current ages 10, 10, and 11. Raven Chanel Broughton-Jones, 30, was arrested on January 21 by Barbourville Police Department Sgt. Adam Townsley. Also charged in connection with the case was Steven M.
