    The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has launched the first offshore patrol vessel (OPV), BRP Rajah Sulayman (PS-20), in Ulsan, South Korea.  HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) was contracted to construct six OPVs for the Navy, valued at approximately 30bn pesos ($533.67m) in 2022.  According to the AFP, the development “reinforces its dedication to national sovereignty and defence modernisation”.

    UK defence technology provider QinetiQ has provided live and virtual operational training to the Royal Navy’s Carrier Strike Group and Nato allies.  The training, which focused on counter drone capabilities, was offered during the week-long Exercise Med Strike. The exercise took place off the East coast of Sicily and aimed to enhance the Carrier Strike Group’s air defence capabilities and foster carrier integration among Nato allies.

    Airbus Helicopters has launched HTeaming, its modular crewed-uncrewed teaming system designed to enable helicopter crews to control uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) during flight.  HTeaming can either operate independently or be integrated with helicopter mission systems.  Airbus Helicopters will demonstrate the standalone version at the Paris Air Show, which will be held between 16 and 20 June 2025.
