NeuroLeadership Institute

Our Journey: In 2007, David and Lisa Rock, along with their dedicated team, were already seasoned professionals in leadership development and executive coaching, having worked in the field for a decade. It was during this time that David introduced the term "NeuroLeadership." They recognized that applying a science-based method to enhance soft skills would not only appeal to business leaders but also improve the effectiveness of change initiatives. That same year marked the beginning of the NeuroLeadership Institute, which hosted its inaugural Summit in Asolo, Italy, bringing together business professionals and neuroscience experts. Since then, Summits have taken place in various cities including London, Sydney, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Boston, eventually finding a permanent venue in New York City. Today, tens of thousands of participants join the Summit each year through live streams. In 2008, we also launched the NeuroLeadership Journal. In its early years, NLI published key foundational research in the field, including the groundbreaking paper on the SCARF ® Model. Initially focused on executive education, we soon began consulting with companies to meet growing demand, leading to a shift towards performance management without formal ratings. After two and a half years of dedicated research, NLI introduced the SEEDS Model ® in 2015, which led to the establishment of our diversity and inclusion (D&I) practice. Shortly thereafter, we expanded into culture and leadership, partnering with major tech companies like Intel, Microsoft, and IBM. We developed expertise in fostering a growth mindset and assisting organizations in transforming their cultures. Around this time, we also launched a distributed learning solution, a collaborative learning approach that enables large groups to acquire and retain knowledge with minimal time investment. As we look to the future, we remain committed to adapting and evolving, always attentive to the needs of those we serve.
