Panattoni Development has started construction on two of four planned industrial buildings at its 88-acre 580 South mixed-use project at the corner of Mount Rose Highway and Interstate 580.

What started out as a modest pumpkin patch has turned into a generational business for the Andelin family. Back in 2010, Cameron Andelin and his wife, Natalie, decided to host a pumpkin patch as a family project for their five children on their 150-acre farm off Pyramid Highway. That initial venture wasn’t profitable, but Cameron Andelin said it was a great family experience that shared the agricultural roots of the farm with friends and visitors.

Carson Tahoe Health System has settled with the U.S. government for approximately $8.9 million without admitting liability regarding allegedly ineligible pandemic-era loans, according to a March 24 news release from Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith. “Carson Tahoe Health System has reached a settlement agreement with the U.S. government regarding Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans received during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Carson-based CTH said in a statement.

Unregulated offshore betting cost licensed gaming operators more than $17 billion in lost revenue nationwide last year, according to the American Gaming Association (AGA). The activity is now being targeted for elimination by Nevada. Sen. Rochelle Nguyen (D-Las Vegas) has authored SB256, which would allow Nevada courts to impose stiffer fines beyond the $50,000 fine illegal gambling operators currently face if convicted of violating the state’s online gaming laws.

For Anna Woods, housing isn’t guaranteed. She’s lived in two student dorms, a room shared with a friend at a house, and now a student apartment with one bathroom for $2,700 a month shared by four roommates who split the costs. Each week, the 23-year-old UNR undergraduate student checks her bank account to make sure she has enough money to afford rent. “My first initial savings is definitely depleted,” Woods said. “I feel like a few more big expenses would take me out.”She isn’t alone.
