After Mother Nature again postponed play for the Pagosa Springs High School Pirate baseball team in Cortez on Saturday, the teams faced off Monday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Pirates, they returned home with two league losses to the Panthers. The Pirates, who now own a 7-6 record and are 0-4 in league play, are now looking ahead to a string of home games and the bigger picture as the season nears its end.

I showed up for a scheduled nuclear stress test in Durango with my entourage, my family. We travel as a family to the doctor, dentist and hospital. We have had to change as life has changed. When my Sweet Al accompanied me on this trip, he insisted on helping me into the wheelchair. Taking paint off corners and putting holes in the hospital walls, he pushed me into a corner. I couldn’t move. He wouldn’t let go of the handles. He was taking care of me.

The Pagosa Springs High School (PSHS) track and field team took part in the 15-team Ron Keller Invitational Monday in Durango after the event was rescheduled from Saturday due to inclement weather. “Yesterday was really windy, but at least it wasn’t snowing. Pirates move to 7-4 record

The Pagosa Springs High School Pirate baseball team was dealt its first losses of the season over the last week, with the team moving to a 7-4 record. But, despite the losses, coach Ben Garcia indicated he’s proud of how the team responded Tuesday against Durango after falling to Alamosa on April 12. The Pirates believed in themselves, he noted. The Pirates opened league play on Saturday, April 12, in Alamosa, where they lost both halves of the day’s doubleheader.
2025 Car Show moving to Yamaguchi Park

The annual Pagosa Springs Car Show will need to change locations this year from Lewis Street to the Yamaguchi Park area. The dates for the show remain on the second weekend of June, which is this year is June 13 and 14. We are excited for quite a few reasons to move the show to this location. There have been questions on where we will park the cars. If you travel 5th Street, the cars will be parked on the west side of the paved street along the park, where parking is already in existence.

More Pagosa Springs High School records were broken at last weekend’s 36-team Thunder-Storm Invitational in Pueblo, despite the team being without some of its athletes, who were performing in the school’s production of “The Wizard of Oz.”The meet was held at Colorado State University Pueblo’s Thunderbowl on April 12. “The Thunderbowl is a beautiful facility,” coach Connie O’Donnell wrote in an email to The SUN. “It was really quite the experience to compete there.
